Two security forces and a first-aider were killed on Sunday, while they were being transported in an ambulance after a bomb attack Egypt’s Sinai region, security officials have said.
The attackers are still to be identified but Egypt has been the principal target of Islamic State militants.
A bomb explosion occurred in the morning hours on a road usually used by security forces in North Sinai were Islamic State militants are active.
The ambulance which rescued the wounded forces was attacked by unknown gunmen .
Egyptian army officials say the military killed five insurgents on Sunday “when terrorists opened fire on a group of security forces.”

Government officials indicate that hundreds of policemen and soldiers have been killed in attacks during this past three years in Egypt.
Most of the attacks happen around Sinai and sometimes in the heart of Cairo.
The Egyptian branch of the Islamic State claims responsibility for most of these attacks .
The most prominent case was the attack of a Russian aircraft in October last year which led to the dead of 224 passengers.
